Experience

Rachel Goldman, Ph.D., FTOS, is a licensed psychologist specializing in health and wellness, including health behavior change, obesity, weight management, eating behaviors, and stress reduction. Dr. Goldman is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU School of Medicine and has a private practice in NYC where she sees individual clients and utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy to assist clients in behavioral changes that will promote healthier and happier lives.

Dr. Goldman is on leadership boards of both The Obesity Society and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She is also on the ASMBS Integrated Health Executive Council. She has collaborated with many Fortune 500 companies to provide corporate wellness workshops related to challenging one’s negative thoughts, stress management, self-care, and emotional eating. She also provides peer supervision and consulting to other professionals.

Prior to starting her private practice and doing consulting work, Dr. Goldman served as Senior Psychologist at Bellevue Center for Obesity & Weight Management at Bellevue Hospital where she provided short- and long-term outpatient individual and group psychotherapy (i.e. cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing) for adults and adolescents, specializing in weight management, body image, disordered eating behaviors, and other health-related behaviors.

Dr. Goldman has been quoted or mentioned in many major online and print publications, including The New York Times, TIME, NBC News, CNN, USA Today, SHAPE, and Women's Health. She's also appeared on-camera for interviews with CNN and was invited as a panelist at the Danskin X Oprah Magazine Self-Care and Wellness Summit.

She's a regular expert guest on Sirius XM Doctor Radio discussing disordered eating behaviors, weight management, and behavioral change. Her work in the field of bariatrics and as a bariatric psychologist was highlighted in the June 2016 APA Monitor on Psychology.

Education

Dr. Goldman received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina.
